29 Februari : My Fav Malaysian Movie of All Time

I LOVE this movie! ‘29 februari’ takes you on a journey – not just in the hero’s romantic quest to find his soulmate, but throughout malaysia’s trials and tribulations. from being occupied by the japanese and brits to merdeka up to the moment our national car was born, until the present 2012.

you will cry and cheer as you watch the proclamation of MERDEKA in the huge cinema screen, (in full color!) and you will gasp in excitement as you see a young tun mahathir with sideburns shaking hands with our hero budi. all in ‘29 februari’ – malaysia’s first 3D movie.

I managed to watch KRU’s ‘29 Februari’ at the cinema, on opening day, just few days before flying back to dubai. excited because ever since my youngest sis showed me the trailer few months back, I was hoping that I would be in malaysia when it’s shown in cinema.

I did watch it, and it has since become, one of the best malaysian movies I’ve seen in years.

the actors, the storyline, the script, the songs – almost comparatively flawless when you think of the standard of the movies in malaysia which seemed to rely on the same money-making faces, boring cliché script and unoriginal storyline. ‘29 Februari’ defies the convention, and presents to us one of the most engaging stories ever.

aku suka sangat-sangat movie ni!

my cinematic experience watching 29 februari

I saw the movie ‘29 Februari’ on the first day it premiered on malaysian cinema, but have been putting off writing the review because my youngest sister (who is a big supporter of malay movies) haven’t seen it yet.

(terima kasih tolong babysit khaleef, kahfi & kazim!)

oh well. I’ve waited long enough – unfortunately she didn’t have the time to watch the movie what with all the wedding prep she’s going thru, and work, so I wanna write this down before I forget the wonderful feeling this movie has left me with!

523402_10151149264173308_1555992761_n

RM28 for 2 – still cheaper than ONE 3D cinema ticket in dubai!

just us!

maybe it was the first day. or that we were watching it at a new shopping mall (paradigm mall, kelana jaya). and we’re watching the 3D version – but we were completely alone in the cinema hall! throughout the movie. seriously! so terus berangan yang mr. khairul booked the whole cinema hall just for me haha.

nasib baik dah kawen, kalo tak ini bole membawa kepada khalwat ni!

when we walked inside, it was still too early to tell whether they’d be only 5 or 10 viewers. maybe we were first. bila movie dah start, takde orang lagi. ntah-ntah lambat. takpe. and then in the middle of the movie, mr. khairul looked around and confirmed it – we WERE indeed alone in the cinema hall!

lepas tu terus gelak kuat-kuat, kunyah popcorn sesuka hati, baring-baring sambil letak kaki kat seat sebelah. hoho.

you guys know the storyline?

it’s what I call benjamin button meets forest gump. the plot has no similarities to either movie but it’s associated with those two because it deals with aging weirdly (benjamin button aged backwards, budi in ‘29 februari’ aged only once in 4 years), and it has original clips from actual historical events and they CGI-ed the characters into the original clips (like forest gump meeting john lennon and such, in ‘29 februari’, budi shook hands with tun mahathir in the 70-s).

nways, plot :

budi was born on a leap year, and for some reason, he ages only once in 4 years – making him much younger than everyone else his age. he was raised in an orphanage after his parents died during the japanese occupation. his bestfriend was this blind dude named razak. he met a chinese girl lily, and they fell in love despite the obvious race and religious differences. father opposed, lily ran away – and budi spent his whole life looking for his true love, and in that journey he went through several decades – and never seemed to age.

(ini rumusan aku tau, tak cedok dari mana-mana website!)

character in 29 februari

  1. remy ishak is budi. owh, to me he’s truly the current ‘lelaki melayu terakhir’ competing only against aaron aziz. he’s tall, dark and maybe not gorgeous-handsome, but kacak-manis-lelaki-melayu. haha. walaupun kadang-kadang ade close-up yang buat aku rasa “eh takde le hensem sgt remy ishak ni,” but there lies his attraction – he’s believable. tak payah handsome melampau macam johnny depp. penonton lelaki pun senang nak suka sebab remy ishak ni bukan saje ladies-man, tapi man’s man! make sense tak?
  2. he was just fantastic in his role as budi. budi was laidback and playful, passionate and in love. and remy ishak potrays that wonderfully that we believe his feelings, adventures and challenges. he delivers his line effortlessly – selamba. I like the way he acts, and I am looking forward to more movie performances from this talented actor.
  3. jojo goh as lily is demure, feminine and oh so sweet, you can’t help but just fall in love with her too. I’ve never heard of her, so I commended her acting which is also believable as the chinese girl who defied her father and falls for a malay guy. no doubt she has a chinese accent when she speaks, but that adds to the authenticity of the storyline.
  4. I like the remy-jojo combo, and  the chemistry between the two actors is also a winning recipe for the success of ‘29 februari’.
  5. izzue islam as razak surprises me. I don’t know this actor, but he amazes me with his talent. he’s a natural. the way he says his lines. the way he plays a blind man. he’s alright.
  6. the whole line-up of supporting actors also deliver great performances – lily’s dad, the indian lawyer, the warden of the orphanage, the kids and especially budi’s dad – all gave their best eventhough they appear for a short while. I like movies that don’t sideline the supporting actors no matter how small.

remy ishak can sing? yes, he sang one of the main songs in the movie soundtrack ‘kelip-kelip’ (fireflies) and he did it wonderfully. he has a deep manly voice that is just soothing to hear. the song ‘kelip-kelip’ is SO norman-yusry-edry that you can almost hear THEM singing the song.

it’s a sweet song with meaningful lyrics – I can see it winning a couple of malaysian music awards…

I absolutely LOVE the movie soundtrack. since the storyline started during the british and japanese occupation – the songs featured are taken from around that era too. I can recognize a few catchy classic tunes of the 40’s and 50’s including the one below by zaharah agus, ‘kalau mau kenal’ – I LOVE this song and it was so appropriate for that period of time in that scene!

enjoy!

director

(semua aku nak komen kan haha)

edry as the director should be most applauded for his exceptional work on ‘29 februari’. I’ve seen ‘merong mahawangsa’ (also produced by KRU) and though it’s a big production, big story with awesome cinematography and costume, the flow of the storyline became draggy and soon boring.

but ‘29 februari’ is a breath of fresh air. the camera work is beautiful – you can see it from the angles and corners of the shots. the setting is gorgeous – where on earth did they find the beautiful malay kampung house to be the orphanage? and the kelip-kelip scene? lawa!

the script is never boring and is always necessary – takde babak minum air fresh orange hihi.

here’s the trailer of the movie if you haven’t seen it yet. aren’t you a little bit curious?

at the time of writing, ‘29 Februari’ is still playing in local cinemas nationwide. it is indeed one magical movie, and if you haven’t seen it yet, you’re missing out on something wonderful, made by fellow malaysians. KRU is certainly in a league of their own!

*the stills from the movie ‘29 februari’ in this blog is taken from its facebook page. thank you! also, my favorite malaysian movies of all time are aziz m. osman’s ‘xx-ray’ and ‘puteri impian’, erma fatima’s ‘femina’ and ‘jimi asmara’, shuhaimi baba’s ‘layar lara’ and afdlin shauki’s ‘baik punya cilok’ and ‘cuci’. and now ‘29 februari’ too!

Like Karaoke? Jom Kota Damansara or Alamanda

i like to sing very much. while driving, while cooking, while blogging. I sing. so naturally, I like karaoke too. it liberates me. it lets me sing as loud as i want, with real music to back my singing. it lets me live an imaginative world where i am an award-winning singer at a LIVE concert. with fans cheering at the back. and by fans, I mean the people who came with me to the karaoke place. haha.

* * *

my youngest sis azi knows very well how much I love singing so she and her fiance faiz treated me to a night of karaoke last few weeks. this has been an idea we throw about for weeks now, even before ramadhan, and only now did we really go out and do it.

the boys were with my in-laws, and mr. khairul out with his friends – so I was grabbing the chance to have one late night out and go nuts!

azi and faiz took me to ‘loud speaker karaoke’ at kota damansara. it’s a rather big, imposing place with bright lights and huge writings in chinese – terasa macam nak berkaraoke kat hong kong!

the touch-screen to choose songs is the one on azi’s left, in front of the sofa

the room is fairly spacious as it was just the three of us. very comfy and well-air-conditioned. plenty of space to swing around while you sing (nak buat breakdance pun boleh), with two small tables to put your drinks and food.

food is sold here, but we opted for the ‘just-drinks’ package which offers bottomless drinks till the end of our 3-hour karaoke session.

how to choose your songs?

a touch-screen is right in front of you where you can make your song choice as you sit watching your friends singing (like in the picture above). I like it because in some karaoke place, the touch screen is placed on the wall next to the tv so you need to get up to choose a song. and it can distract the person who is singing too!

guess which singer did I check out first? haha

though you can control the volume from the touch-screen, there’s also a small remote on the wall on the other side of the room to control the volume.

yay! i really let go and sang my heart out! over gile lepas geram punya pasal. songs of anuar zain, dayang nurfaizah, innuendo, jaclyn victor – I was having fun! it was just me, my sister azi and her fiance who had to endure my singing! haha.

azi and faiz even sang THEIR song – a love song that sort off explain their feelings for each other, michael learns to rock’s ‘I’m gonna love you’. eww. haha. faiz has a really soothing voice like an indonesian singer (bleh!) and azi’s soft tone of voice complements his. meant to be la tu konon. hoho.

thanks azi and faiz for finally putting your feet down, just got out and pulled me into this happy mess of loud songs and awfully great singing. one of the most enjoyable moments I’ve had. hope we can do this again soon!

just a week after, my singing-crazy sis-in-law also suggested a karaoke place in alamanda called ‘superstar’, which surprises me as it looks very posh and polished. the black and white walls with bright white lights in lines remind me of something out of the movie ‘tron’. haha.

nways, this time it was a slightly bigger ‘crowd’ – I came with mr. khairul and his siblings – tina, asrar and his 12 year-old youngest sis sofia also tagged along.

DSC01067

DSC01069

we took one of the food-and-drinks package which includes a regular box of non-caramel popcorn, fries, kacang putih and 5-piece nugget. for drinks, it’s a jug of iced coke. not bad for a night of belting out songs of love and broken-hearted!

when I looked at the menu, I was amused – the menu not only consist of western food such as nuggets and chicken wings, but keropok lekor ngan cucur udang pun ade! this really is a malay-owned karaoke place!

DSC01074

for a 5-people group, the room we’re given is quite small, just enough for a long sofa, one small table and a narrow place for those who wants to sing standing up. however, the fun time spent is most important, and the siblings make the most of the time they have with their eldest brother yang balik bercuti dari dubai tu!

they were loud, funny, and really went all out when singing. ALL of them enjoyed karaoke-ing so after a few song-choice, I just need to sit back and enjoy the loud merriment and let these crazy kids hog the mic. hihi.

DSC01076

my bro-in-law asrar with his rock kapak voice, my sis-in-law tina with a LIVE recording-artist voice that suits any songs especially the ballads, and even my 12 year-old youngest sis can belt out beyonce songs with ease. these kids are not just karaoke-nuts – they actually sound good!

DSC01071

the touch-screen for song choice is on the wall right next to the TV screen

mr. khairul did not sing, you might ask? haha I broke the ice asking him to sing anuar zain’s ‘lelaki ini’ for me. hihi. and then I regret it. I had opened a door. a karaoke-craze person came out from mr. khairul and throughout the night went wild singing bon jovi, zainal abidin and even KRU. way to blow off some steam, tuan pengarah!

err, is there karaoke place in dubai?

Bday Bike Ride to ‘Up on the 10th’ Jazz Club

it may be waaaay past 24th june, but in this blog, it’s still my birthday! haha.

after that deliciously romantic wagyu steak birthday dinner at MJ’s steakhouse, we drove back home. however, the evening was not over so soon. mr. khairul had another surprise!

we changed quickly – transformed into zack-azura almost-looka-likeys hihi, and off on his harley-davidson into the night! vroom!

this was a really rare moment for me to go on a ride with mr. khairul, since usually i have noone to leave my 3 boys with. thanks to my sis-in-law who is here for a LONG transit from cairo back to malaysia, i finally had the chance to hop on an exhilarating bike journey with him!

it was just for a while, but still so exciting!

it’s currently summer in dubai, when even the night can get really hot. however that day, the weather was on our side, alhamdulillah. it was a cool night, welcoming us in its breezy embrace!

we just hang, while watching the brightly-lit dhow passed by across the dubai creek

our destination : this fantastic jazz club at ‘radisson blu’ deira, overlooking dubai creek. it’s called ‘up on the 10th’ because well, it’s on the 10th floor of the hotel.

it’s well known to be one of the finest jazz bars around dubai, with it’s simple yet chic setting alongside the LIVE jazz performance that is the crowd-puller for the place. this was another romantic setting for my birthday! oh my, there’s nothing more sensual than jazz music playing while you’re with your loved one.
thank you honey!

it was just nice – me, him, and jazz. just us. in the moment. sometimes speaking without uttering a single word, and still having the best times. we just hang, while watching fancy, lit-up dhow passed by the peaceful creek down below. and that jazz.

oh, i LOVE jazz music!

555879_10150999739193308_1818923051_n

birthday girl me, and all that jazz!

had fruit-mix smoothie while enjoying the smooth silky LIVE jazz sounds. khaleef, kahfi & kazim were *there* too. hihi. once a mom, always a mom lah.

it’s not called a JAZZ bar for nothing – they’ve got LIVE jazz shows with live music and all. the in-house jazz talent can play the guitar, piano, and was singing all things jazz from the classic sinatra to even oasis’ ‘wallflower’ in jazzed-up style! awesome! i love his voice!

there was another hoopla when suddenly the jazz singer broke into an announcement, “we’ve got a birthday girl in the house..” in his cool jazz voice haha. wah! *mata berkaca-kaca* full of excitement! hihi. thanks honey for the surprise!

and to that suit-up dude on the piano, thanks for crooning the jazzed-up bday song for me! yay! here’s the clip of that birthday song. sweet!

thanks honey! this is just so sweet, and i can’t stop saying it - me, you & jazz. just phenomenal.

and after we left ‘up on the 10th’, we rode along dubai and mr. khairul headed on to another surprise location – a pit-stop on this clearing, where you can clearly see dubai skyline, including the magnificent burj khalifa, the world’s tallest building.

that long bright dots heading upwards is that skyscraper burj khalifa!

thanks for the birthday steak, thanks for the ride on your harley, thanks for the romantic birthday song on a piano, and all that jazz. thanks to my honey cookie mr. khairul! alhamdulillah, what a perfectly planned birthday celebration.

it’s gonna be difficult to top this next year! love you!

The Beatles in Dubai!

wanna meet the beatles in dubai?

head on to harvey nichols at the mall of emirates, and meet the fab four – John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. no, they’re not back from the dead (ok, bad joke) but they’re actually madame tussauds waxworks placed in the middle of cloths rack and designer bags of harvey nichols!

calling it ‘the beatles story’, that’s harvey nichols way of celebrating the 50th anniversary of this awesome teen-sensation ‘the beatles’

my terrorodable three with the fab four ~ khaleef, kahfi & kazim with john, ringo, paul and george.

the beatles legacy is evergreen. whether you’re 71 or 17, all can relate to the simplicity of their songs, get caught in the catchy beat and meaningful lyrics. back then ‘yesterday’, they simply ‘wanna hold your hand’ and asked to ‘love me do’ while ‘imagine’ going on a ‘yellow submarine’ to simply ‘let it be’!

my mom and my sis syida are big fans. i’m not really a crazy fan, but i do love their simple songs that i mentioned above.

well, like them a little, or like them a lot, they were THE british group that took the world by storm in the 1960’s and changed the popular music landscape forever.

so if you wanna have a little part of them, harvey nichols put up a section on the third floor, selling beatles t-shirt, magnets, cds, caps and sweaters, as well as limited edition hard-cover coffee table books.

…and i got myself a beatles t-shirt! hihi. tak pergi liverpool, dapat t-shirt kat dubai pun jadilah! thanks honey!

catch the ‘wax figures’ of the beatles at harvey nichols, mall of emirates until may 31st. until then, enjoy my favorite beatles’ song – ‘i want to hold your hand’ circa 1960s!

My Date With Anuar Zain @ Secretaries Week, KLCC

haha. what a misleading title!

ok, let me start with : 10 fun facts on my awesome day with ANUAR ZAIN during the secretaries week show 2012 at KL convention center on the 10th of april.

# 1 : ANUAR ZAIN sat next to me on the stairs of the stage!

but really, i was just sitting at the foot of the stairs of the stage trying to take a picture of myself with anuar zain in the background. anuar zain was about to sing at the time, i think it was ‘ku berjanji kerna cinta’. all i wanted was background of anuar zain. SUDDENLY, anuar zain himself came down and sat next to me! on the stairs. right next to me! while still singing! hihi. *hati berbunga-bunga dan berpopcorn garrett*

he was absolutely charming!

ok, you can’t actually see ME in this youtube video, but at the beginning of the clip, right before he sang, he can be seen creeping down the stage to sit on the stairs – that was ME next to him! hihi. lepas tu barulah berduyun anuar zain fans nak bergambar dengan dia! opps! siap ade yang kiss lagi. oh, no. please don’t violate my darling anuar zain!

* * *

ok, lemme rewind for a moment.

# 2 : my husband mr. khairul surprised me with a ticket. i didn’t even ask to go to this show!

it was 10th april, and my mr. khairul (LOVE YOU!!!!) surprised me with a ticket to see anuar zain at the secretaries week 2012 show at KL convention center. mr. khairul was still in dubai at the time, and he would only arrive in malaysia a day before my sister’s wedding.

mr. k : u akan stay ipoh je ke nanti?

me : yup. nak prepare for wedding suma. hantaran pun belum gubah lagi.

mr. k : no, you KENA pegi KL.

me : apsal?

mr. k : tuesday. anuar zain.

me : WHAT??!!

i was completely overwhelmed by the surprise, because i know mr. khairul mmg boring dgn anuar zain ni (coz the wife is such a hopelessly devoted fan! hihi) but still managed to grab me a ticket! he only bought ONE ticket, though coz the tickets are so expensive. so i was about to go alone on this show.

this was the perfect stranger who sat next to me during the whole of anuar zain secretaries week show at KLCC – mazlina, or just maz.

# 3 : alone at a concert. lucky to sat next to a great gal, and one sombong makcik.

alone at a concert? that’s gonna be weird. i gotta make friends at my table to better enjoy the show! when i first sat down, the table of 10 was nearly full. i tried to start a conversation with the girl sitting next to me.

ok, aku tanya korang lah kan, kalau aku duk sblah korang senyum-senyum, then tanya elok2, korang sudi tak nak sembang dgn aku? i did the same to this pretty girl sitting next to me, “korang ni keja tempat yg sama ke?” referring to the group at the table. i expected the ball to get rolling and we’d be talking about working place. but the girl simply said a short, “tak.” and then she looked away. amboi, sombong nye cik kak! paling2 koman pun tanya la balik aku keja kat mana. oh, mentang-mentang aku dtg sorang, ko bawak geng ko malas nk layan ye. kesian kat aku tau.

and that’s when another girl came and sat next to me. her name is maz, and she turned out to be the coolest person i ever wanted to meet at an anuar zain’s concert.

i thought i’d be all alone during the show with noone to cheer with, but she was very friendly and we clicked right away. THANKS MAZ! thanks so much for being *crazy* with me during the show – changing tables closer to the stage (nasib aku blah dari cik kak nyombong tu), going up front to the stage to get closer to anuar zain, clapping and cheering aloud, and of course, for taking the lovely picture of me with anuar zain! i hope this friendship continues until the next anuar zain secretaries week 2013? haha. (*hint* to mr. khairul!)

DSC07554

also stumbled upon my aunt cik’s niece (on her husband’s side) farra. what an absolutely endearing person, so soft-spoken and feminine. she was so lucky – she won two tickets to anuar zain’s show! just like that!

* * *

DSC07536

DSC07537

# 4 : opening act by comedian ‘sepahtu’. aku serius tak pernah tengok these guys in action, but not-bad lah!

the show started with an opening by stand-up comedian sepahtu. ok, i haven’t been watching ANY of their maharaja lawak gig or whatever lawak show they have on astro, so believe it or not, i’ve NEVER seen these guys in action, so i really didn’t know what to expect.

when they came up, i thought shuib was really funny, and even has a nice voice singing anuar zain’s song (i hope i got the name right, the one married to that singer right?) but his partner was using insult joke all the time. asyik nak mengutuk shuib je. itu je ke material dia? i think a little insult is funny, but A LOT was beginning to sound degrading. kesian si shuib. not so funny after that.

# 5 : yasmin hani was the MC – sweet!

and then little miss yasmin hani went up to MC the event. she was a darling. so sweet and beautiful and funny too. she lightened up the mood even as the crowd began to get restless waiting for dear anuar zain to appear.

* * *

# 6 : food was delicious, but could be better! and bigger portion!

to be honest, food was ok. delicious but aku memang tak tahan dish yang pinggan besa tapi makanannye setoet je. haha. i’m really not into ultra-fine cuisine where the plate is so big with the teeny tiny food sitting in the middle with a swoosh of this cream and a pinch of that powder and few dots of this sauce – voila! how can enjoy food like that!

(mr. khairul once brought me on one of our anniversaries to the posh frangipani, and that was the first time i ate food like that – big plate, micro-mini food. na-ah. big portion for me. always big portion!)

DSC07513

nways the appetizer was already there on our table when i arrived. people are still arriving, saying hi and sitting down, making themselves comfortable. anuar zain is nowhere to be seen so all we could do was enjoy this first meal. it is ‘house-smoked trio-peppered lamb loin served with semi-dried tomato and asian greens drizzled with calamata olive and lemon thyme vinaigrette’. try saying that in one breath huh?

i love lamb, and this one LOOKED uncooked, but it was really tasty. i savoured each bite, chewing slowly like a cow chewing grass – because i know how little the portion is! kesian kan, lagipun kalau makanan ni dah habis, anuar zain tak keluar-keluar lagi nanti takde ape nak buat kan, termenung-termenung je. haha.

DSC07519

the next meal was ‘lavender honey glazed chicken roulade served on herbs potato puree with charred seasonal vegetables – roasted garlic olive sauce.’ it’s boneless chicken, tasting really good. better than i expected. this meal was quite filling, but i think they’re being so kedekut on the veggies. hello, we pay so much, you know! baby carrot pun nak kena potong dua ke?

DSC07524

for dessert it’s ‘white chocolate mango tiramisu accompanied with wildberry compote’. what the heck is a ‘compote’? nways, i don’t like tiramisu (don’t like anything remotely related to coffee) but i HAD to finish this. it was too cute! with AZ choc on top! again, i was eating it one bite at a time – pausing so very often so that i still have some cake left while i enjoy anuar zain singing!

* * *

DSC07548

DSC07546

handsomenya!

# 7 : ANUAR ZAIN was sick and had a sore throat that day. nevertheless, he performed effortlessly!

i can’t even begin to describe his performance. fantastic. and to think that anuar zain was sick that day. you can see him pinching his throat at one point or another. kesiannya! he also kept drinking from a bottled water at the side of the stage.

however, he performed like a true entertainer. with that mesmerizing soaring voice, that undeniable charm he wooed the crowd like he always does. going to his show again after all these years (masa zaman uni, aku selalu jgk pegi gig anuar zain hihi) reminds me that i’m still very much in love! (mr. k no worries, you’re still numero uno, honey!)

my table was quite a distance from the stage, but it was so worth it. seeing him LIVE was a real treat. besides, anuar zain always find time to walk down the stage and walk to the back row and meet his fans. he was such a sweetheart. he mingled with everyone with the same charm.

and of course, sometimes maz and i would creep up to the front to take a closer shot at anuar zain. enjoy my youtube clip of anuar zain singing ‘cinta harus memiliki’!

and he. is. so. CUTE!!! i LOVE that suit too! can you believe that he’s already 40?

lovely adibah noor & darling anuar zain. (taken from blog azzamoro. thanks!)

# 8 : BONUS! adibah noor was one of anuar zain’s back-up singers!

it was a wonderful surprise. i would pay to watch adibah noor sing, and now i got it at anuar zain’s show. she was just unbelievably good. i love her voice. it came out so effortlessly and still able to sound so incredible. they both did a duet on whitney houston’s ‘saving all my love’ which is my fav whitney houston’s song!

adibah noor was also the sweetest and didn’t mind the fans who wanted to take pictures with her. one cool chick! watch the youtube clip to enjoy the wonderful performance of two master vocals! LOVE IT!

* * *

# 9 : doorgifts – chocolates in anuar zain box and an awesome picture book of anuar zain

i did expect more from the doorgift goodie bag – a cd at least, or a t-shirt. or even a tumbler or a notepad (secretaries week show kan, kasi la something yang bole guna kat office!)

but the hard-cover picture book is still a wonderful gift – a compilation of anuar zain’s pictures – from his early days of ‘anuar dan elina’ to the present. some of the pictures are rare shots of anuar zain as a teen, and it was such an enjoyable time flipping through the pages!

DSC09040DSC09054

DSC09042

# 10 : the last time i met ANUAR ZAIN was more than 10 years ago!

i remember he was singing with camelia, somewhere in bukit bintang. he was charming then, and still charming now. he really knows how to treat a fan – no matter where he is, no matter how crazy a fan gets!

and he’s not just all looks and gaya. he’s an incredible singer who is second to none. a class of his own. to me, one of the best male voices around!

a young me, and a young anuar zain! hihi
